The wine

Champagne Laherte Freres Les Longues Voyes is a new cuvee of the Laherte brothers that is made for the first time since the year 2012. Its translation could be 'the long road'; and refers to the 30 km distance between the winery located in Chavot and the location of the vineyard, the furthest from the whole family farm, located in the Mountain of Reims.

We talk about a champagne Blanc de Noirs 100% Pinot Noir made from old vines. Both fermentation and aging are carried out in used barrels originating in Burgundy, with the curiosity that they once housed red wines (an unusual matter in Champagne) and it is also carried out for a period much longer than normal, up to 18 months . There is no malolactic fermentation, bottle aging on lees for almost 3 years, reduced dosage of 3.5 gr and made from a single vintage.

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker and Suckling

Disgorged in February 2019 with four gams per liter dosage, the NV Extra-Brut Blanc de Noirs Premier Cru Les Longues Voyes derives from the 2015 vintage and saw 19 months élevage in barrel before tirage. Unfurling in the glass with inviting aromas of citrus zest, fresh apricot, verbena and wet stones, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and incisive, with racy acids, good depth at the core and a long, mineral finish.

Here’s a very generous Blanc de Noirs that tastes almost like a red wine, thanks to the expansive raspberry and cherry character. Touches of quince, candied orange and toasty oak add interest. Really full-bodied with moderate acidity, the mousse really necessary to prevent it all from being too much. 100% pinot noir from old vines in the Montagne de Reims. Drink now.
