Bellone

Bellone, also known locally as cacchione, is one of the most popular white grapes of Lazio. Once considered a blending grape, today it is more and more vinified as a single variety, since it expresses good structure, minerality - thanks to tufaceous and volcanic soils - and, if well vinified, a certain aromatic elegance. Golden straw-yellow in colour, it is fragrant, with notes of grapefruit, peach, dried fruit. Generally rich on the palate, it is, however, fresh and with a nice, savoury, almond-flavoured finish. Typical of the area of Aprilia, Anzio and Nettuno, it expresses excellently in the district of Cori, also as a spumante.
