Malvasia puntinata del Lazio

Not to be confused with a generic malvasia present in the territory, malvasia puntinata is the noblest white grape variety in the Frascati area, in Lazio. Protected, as a blend, both in the Frascati DOC and Frascati Superiore DOCG, it is also enhanced, as a single variety, in the more recent Roma DOC. Of low and inconstant productivity, it gives a moderately aromatic wine, straw-yellow in colour with intense, fruity, but also floral and mineral fragrances. A well-balanced and harmonious white wine, with good structure, it gives Frascati freshness, softness and complexity, and as a single variety it gives a nice almond finish and a pleasant sapid and mineral persistence.
