Ormeasco

The cultivation of dolcetto in upper Liguria has been documented since the fourteenth century, especially in the area of Ormea, in Ponente, from which ormeasco takes its name. A dolcetto of the heights, cultivated up to 800 metres above sea level, expresses brilliant hints of cherry, green pepper, violet and rosehip, teasing the palate with vibrant acidity and delicate tannin, which fades into a beautiful almond trail. It lends itself both to ageing in wood, with the Superiore version that appears more rounded and complex, and to vinification as a rosé wine, in the sciac-trà type, coral-coloured, with a beautiful bouquet of berries and red flowers.
