The soils vary from gravel and pebble terraces in the south to more granitic formations in the north, which influences the diversity of styles within the appellation. The red wines, which represent the vast majority of production, are made exclusively with Syrah, displaying an intense aromatic profile with notes of dark fruits, spices, violets and a smoky touch. On the palate, they tend to be structured and balanced, with fine tannins and great ageing potential. The whites, less common but highly appreciated, are made with Marsanne and Roussanne, offering fresh, floral wines with a silky texture.
The Crozes-Hermitage AOC is known for producing accessible and versatile wines, with a style that combines the power of the northern Rhône with a refined elegance, making it a key appellation for lovers of Syrah and wines with character.
