Hibiki, which means harmony in Japanese, is a masterly blend of carefully selected full-bodied malt and grain whiskies. With a manufacturing tradition dating back to 1899, Hibiki is a benchmark worldwide among premium whiskies and has received numerous awards. It was recently chosen as the World's Best Blended Whisky by the renowned publication,Whisky Magazine.
Hibiki is made from malted barley, meticulously grown and selected grain from the warm lands that surround the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries. The barrels utilised in its maturation were once used for Umeshu (the traditional Japanese plum liqueur with a long ageing process) that endows it with a singular bouquet of fruit aromas and a silky texture.
An amber colour, the whisky reveals aromas of ripe bananas, along with citric notes and vanilla cream. On the palate, it displays tropical (bananas), spiced (toffee, buttercream and vanilla cream) and citric notes, concluding with a sweet, velvety finish. Matured for 17 years in barrels used for ageing Umeshu (Japanese plum liqueur).
