The wine

We suggest you try blind-tasting this wine with friends. Its cheerful light-hearted label might make you think this wine is a simple one. In fact, it is no such thing — it's a very complete wine expressing the character of the soil and landscapes its grapes were grown in. The production team ensured its fruity (basically Grenache) personality was not lost during its ageing, making this wine a true gift of purity and balance — an authentic, serious and elegant wine, while still being youthful, fresh, and easy to drink.

Granite soil, stems, and the cool climate at these altitudes lead the four monkeys (the four friends who started this project) to produce a wine brimming with typicity and personality, yet one more excellent example of how well the Grenache grape and the Sierra de Gredos get on together.

What does this wine taste like?

The 4 Monos red wine is a lively wine with a wonderful colour in the glass, between cherry red and ruby red, low density and viscous. The wine has fruity aromas alongside wild, fresh and appetising notes without becoming sweet. A smoky and mineral (pencil lead) touch, and notes of violets offer a remarkable complexity, with a very elegant and serious nose. The wine is intense and velvety on the palate, with a good, juicy and vibrant structure. The addition of Syrah grapes helps it to have a good body, while the Carignan grapes bring verticality. A fresh wine, accessible but complex, with a slightly smokey seductive finish.

Drinking and storing

Best served in a Pinot Noir style glass with a wide body and narrow opening, Thanks to its good structure and acidity it can age elegantly for 4 or 5 years after harvesting.

Serve between 14ºC and 16ºC

Food pairing

Ham on toasted bread / Vegetable rice dishes / Grilled tuna

4 Monos Viticultores

The 4 Monos project arose out of the friendship between Javier García, Laura Robles, David Moreno and David Velasco, four Madrileños who decided to embark upon wine making by pure chance. Convinced that good wine is only made with good vines, they cultivate vineyards at Cadalso de los Vidrios, in the foothills of the Sierra de Gredos, showing the environment all due respect in their viticulture and aiming to maintain the personality of each vineyard in the wine.
