The wine

Azpilicueta Origen is a homage to all those who have contributed to making Azpilicueta a benchmark for Rioja wine, an expression of sincere gratitude to its founder, Don Félix Azpilicueta, as well as an acknowledgement to the Tempranillo, the denomination's red variety par excellence. Made solely from Tempranillo grapes and with an ageing period of 18 months in barrel, Azpilicueta Origen is a wine which expresses, with elegance and balance, the land of its origin, its climate and its people; with all the fruitiness, the subtlety of the oak and the constantly perceptible acidity of fine Rioja wine.

For the purpose of conveying the location's personality, Don Félix Azpilicueta was attracted to the vineyards of San Cristóbal, La Tahola and Los Cabezos, all located in the municipality of Fuenmayor, where in 1881 he decided to set up his winery and business, Campo Viejo, one of the most well-established of Rioja wineries, where today, along with the Azpilicueta and Campo Viejo brands, the Alcorta and Marqués de Villamagna wines are also produced.
