The wine

The Los Bermejos winery is located in the only area of the Geria valley where volcanic soils and dry-stone walls make it possible to grow vines and to achieve the seemingly impossible – to produce wine on Lanzarote. Subtropical temperatures and desert-like rainfall conditions make it extremely difficult for vines to thrive. On top of this, strong Sirocco winds often blow in from the Sahara, bringing with them a haze of sand particles and temperatures reaching 45ºC. Semi-circular dry-stone walls around each plant protect them from the winds while the volcanic soil helps to retain what little humidity there is.

What does this wine taste like?

Bermejo Malvasía Seco is a splendidly fruity white wine with hints of lemon and mango leading on to subtle floral aromas. A smooth fatty wine, it delights the palate with flavours of lemon, dry grass and peach skins coming together to create a lingering varietal finish. A wine expressing the special features of Malvasia grown in a unique volcanic landscape and embodying all the character of wines from the Canary Islands.
