The wine
Casa Castillo Monastrell forms part of the excellent range of wines produced by the Casa Castillo winery, a collection considered to include the best wines in Jumilla and to be a reference in the world of Spanish Mediterranean wines by Luis Gutiérrez (Robert Parker Wine Advocate). This is the youngest wine in the collection, a pure fresh and fruity Monastrell (Mourvèdre); a cheerful wine offering great value for money and sure to delight the palate of anyone who tries it.
What does this wine taste like?
This single-varietal Monastrell from Casa Castillo is a mature, aromatic and expressive wine. A fresh and elegant red wine combining aromas of black and red fruit, such as strawberries, with spicy hints of black pepper and cloves. Lactic tones mix with Mediterranean herbs, olives and dark plums. Despite its youth, it is in no way an aggressive wine, rather it displays an impressive complexity which is reaffirmed constantly as new aromas emerge: eucalyptus, woodworking... It fills the mouth with a juicy pleasantness and has a strong enough character to continue evolving in the bottle.
