The wine
This is undoubtedly one of the best sweet wines from the Spanish Levant region. It provides the perfect end to a meal due to its pleasant taste and easy feel on the palate.
An intense shade of deep cherry-red, the nose is very complex and compact, combining most adeptly notes of raisin-ripe fruits (raisins, tomato preserve, dried plums) with wafts of cocoa, tobacco and cinnamon as a result of oak-ageing. There follows a honeyed, meaty entry on the palate where the ripe-flavoured fruit is enhanced by the wine's acidity.
Produced from the fruit of vines aged about 35 years old. Aged for 8 months in French and American oak barrels.

Bodegas Castaño
Bodegas Castaño has succeeded in giving the wine-producing region of Yecla the seal of quality that it lacked. This family-run winery has had very clear ideas about how to do things well, breaking away from clichés and changing the way of thinking of more than one winemaker worth his salt...
