At the beginning of the 20th century the wine growers in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape area tried to gain recognition for their wines through a specific jurisdiction, which was finally granted to them in 1929. A rigorous selection process is carried out during the harvest to choose the best grapes at the perfect point of ripeness. Châteauneuf has a long history. Its name comes from the Popes, who settled in Avignon in the 14th century.
M. Chapoutier Barbe Rac 2020 is a red wine from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in the Rhône Valley, France. Made exclusively with Grenache from a vineyard that is over 90 years old, this wine exhibits an impressive texture, combining richness and elegance. It offers a cascade of flavours of fig and blackcurrant liqueur, overlaid with notes of iron and burnt leaves. On the palate, it has a solid structure and silky tannins, with a depth and complexity that reflect the exceptional quality of this wine. Decanting is recommended before serving and it has excellent ageing potential.
