The wine
The Americano Cocchi is an aromatized wine, conceived by Giulio Cocchi in 1891 and produced continuously according to the original recipe. The American Cocchi, by its nature, represents the trait d'union between wine and liqueurs being a wine to which a small amount of "bitter" alcohol is added from the infusion of fine herbs and spices: white wine, sugar, infusion of herbs and spices in alcohol, and in particular flowers and leaves of gentian, mugwort, cinchona, bitter orange peel, elderberry and more.
In the classic version it should be served very cold in a glass with ice cubes, completing with a splash of seltzer, so that it releases all its charge of characteristic aromas and fragrances. It is perfected with squeezed orange peel. The Spritz Americano version requires the use of a wine glass and the addition of a dry sparkling wine. It becomes Royale if you use a classic Alta Langa DOCG method. In the summer version, the glass is filled with crushed ice to make it an excellent thirst quencher. The natural bittering characteristic of Americano is not lost even when it is very diluted. In blending the Americano Cocchi is extremely versatile both in classic cocktails such as Vesper Martini and Corpse Reviver # 2, Negroni Bianco both as a modifier and as a base for flavoring infusions. Blending with spirits such as gin, vodka and metzcal is especially happy. It is a perfect ingredient for the new strong trend of "low octane" cocktails, with a low alcohol content.Drinking and storing
