The wine
Founded in 1995 with the construction of the modern winery, Colpetrone is one of the most important production companies in the Montefalco, Umbria area. The Sagrantino, indigenous grape variety of this area, is one of the oldest in Italy. Còlpetrone also produces Rosso di Montefalco DOC, the well-known Umbrian white from Grechetto grapes, and Sagrantino passito, perhaps the most traditional wine of the region.
Advice from the famous oenologist Riccardo Cotarella and the constant commitment of the team of oenologists and agronomists of Tenute del Cerro guarantees the absolute quality of the wines thus representing an authentic and territorial expression. The wine-symbol of the company is certainly the Sagrantino. Intense and impenetrable ruby-coloured, it is confident, powerful, with evident tannic concentration, especially when still young. Perfect for roasted red meats, rich and elaborate dishes, aged cheeses. With a year in barrique and six months in bottle, it is a Sagrantino with a modern, dynamic and elegant conception.

Customer reviews
Well this one was different.
My first sagrantino and I had high hopes. It certainly delivered. Rusty, cherry red on pouring. Fruity and spicy aromas. First taste was a healthy fruit and acidic smack on the tongue with subtle tannins. Cherry and pepper to the fore. An earthy wine with a lingering taste.
