The wine

Trafford Blueprint Syrah is a wine made from grapes from this variety of its neighbors and a small percentage of its own. The name refers to the plan of the winery that also appears on the label, a reference to the previous architectural career of the owner David Trafford.

To make this wine only used oak barrels used to interfere in the charming, complex and subtle aromas of this wine.

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker and Jancis Robinson

The 2016 Blueprint Shiraz packs a bigger punch than the Syrah 393 of the same range. On the nose, the wine has classic aromas of smoky meats, black pepper and a hint of an earthy aroma that is pleasing to me. The palate shows a medium to full-bodied wine, with good balance, correct structure and a moderate to long finish. 7,620 bottles were bottled by hand, unfined and unfiltered. The Syrah spent 20 months in used oak barrels. This wine is correct, delicious and is making me crave herb-crusted lamb.

Dark crimson. Fynbos dried-herbs nose. Very flattering with a note of dark chocolate and lots of lusciousness. Lovely and round and with masses of character. Is this really the price of a Platter wine of the year?
