The wine
Do Ferreiro is an emblematic white wine from one of the most well-renowned wineries in the Rías Baixas area and the whole of Galicia. The vines, between ten and fifty years old, used for this wine, are rooted in diverse soil types in the Val do Salnés area — mainly granitic sands and red slate. The grapes were harvested at the right time in five days and fermentation was started using the prestigious, but scarce, Cepas Vellas wine from the Gerardo Méndez winery.
A classic Albariño wine with everything as it should be and nothing in excess, this wine combines the best of traditional wine-making with the freshness and definition of contemporary wines.
What does this wine taste like?
Do Ferreiro has a straw colour in the glass and seductive aromas of fine salt and granite dust on the nose. Notes of lemons and limes stand out above a background of peach which smoothes its acidity. On the palate, it has a good volume, slightly oily, thanks to the work with the lees which adds a little fat to the wine, while respecting the fruit. This wine also preserves the tension of the harvested grapes and has evokes memories of the Atlantic Ocean. Nuances of acidic loquats, fresh grass, and small white flowers garnish a deliciously bitter finish.

Gerardo Méndez
When you talk about Gerardo Méndez, you are talking about the Albariño grape. Founder of the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin, Gerardo Méndez works from home, in his wine cellar laboratory. He works, naturally enough, with indigenous yeasts, and starts off the activation process in his own kitchen. Vines are his passion and he takes complete charge of his 5 hectares of vineyards, his grapes, the harvest and the winemaking. His vineyards are the highest in the denomination,...
