The wine
Do Ferreiro Cepas Vellas is virtually a cult wine in the Rías Baixas, the creation of a remarkable master, Gerardo Méndez, and an Albariño of exceptional purity. The grapes used to make it come from not just old but ancient vines, most likely the oldest in the denomination and possibly the whole of Spain, two centuries old.
The complexity and profundity of the aromas which this wine exudes are superb, difficult to describe, aromas of fennel and aniseed, apples, wax notes... It's a dense yet agile wine, very harmonious, a singular Albariño!

Gerardo Méndez
When you talk about Gerardo Méndez, you are talking about the Albariño grape. Founder of the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin, Gerardo Méndez works from home, in his wine cellar laboratory.
