The wine

Etna Rosso Cuordilava, produced by the Sicilian winery Donnafugata in collaboration with the Dolce & Gabbana signature, is a unique label, which expresses all the power of the volcano with style and design. Also characteristic is the box supplied which incorporates the label with taste and refinement. It is a splendid expression of Nerello Mascalese, a typical red volcanic grape, which ages for 14 months in French oak barrels and then for at least 30 months in the bottle before being released on the market.

Ruby red in color, Cuordilava presents a bouquet of small red fruits accompanied by spicy notes that blend with typical hints of undergrowth. On the palate it is broad and deep, characterized by well integrated tannins and elegant minerality; the finish of long persistence enhances its extraordinary personality. Ideal with dishes based on mushrooms, legumes and red meats.

Dolce & Gabbana drew inspiration from the color of the magma to create the capsule and the grosgrain ribbon of the box, while the graphics of the label and of the package refer to the traditional motifs and styles of the Sicilian cart. However, Etna remains the true protagonist at the center of the composition, immersed in a suggestive, almost fairytale landscape, which recalls the chivalrous tales of the storytellers and the theatrical scenes of the Opera dei Pupi. Gold was also used a lot - just look at the logos printed on the tissue paper that wraps the bottle and on the collar - just to celebrate the sublime nature of Etna, as unique as the Cuordilava it inspired.
