The wine
Marqués de Griñón has come up with this interesting coupage of Syrah and Garnacha, flavoursome and strikingly different, showing an easier, simpler style than its older Dominio de Valdepusa siblings.
A deep colour and dense, the wine's nose discloses an elegant, complex aroma, highlighting various fruits and flowers (violets), caramel, and with mineral and lightly spiced hints. It is persistent, complex and very well-balanced on the palate. Exhibiting enormously silky tannins, it shows persistence and balance on the finish.
Aged for 10 months in barrel.
