The wine

Celler Masroig is a cooperative endorsed by its one hundred years of history and more than 500 ha of vineyards and olives; it's the largest winery in the Montsant DO and a shining example of the cooperative movement. Right now it's looking to the future, working with modern operations, dynamic and very well-qualified young people, although always maintaining maximum respect for tradition and its wonderful soils.

Ètnic is a nicely-crafted wine made from old-vine Cariñena refreshed with 20% Garnacha and aged for twelve months in oak barrels. A Picota cherry colour and showing garnet on the rim, it's intense and complex on the nose, with lots of ripe black fruit soft as jam, Mediterranean herbs, spices and roasted notes picked up from its oak ageing. On the palate, it's extremely pleasant, meaty and with a fresh mouthfeel too. The black fruit predominates on an earthy background, bringing to mind the landscape of the Montsant.
