The wine

Quite exceptional, the Barbaresco Rabajà Reserva from Giuseppe Cortese starts out in a one-hectare vineyard astride its namesake, the famous hill of Rabajà, with a production run of approximately 6,000 bottles which are only produced in the best years.

After a meticulous selection of the grapes of this historic vineyard, with vines aged 60 years old, the vine matures for 40 months in Slavonian oak barrels of differing capacities (17 to 25 hectolitres), and 8 to 9 years old. This long repose in barrels is essential for guaranteeing the intrinsic characteristics of the fruit, its tannins and acidity, fundamental for enabling the wine to cope with a slow evolution. Not in vain, this great Barbaresco can age for more than 20 years, always showing itself to be in perfect condition, constantly elegant and harmonious.

On the nose, it reveals aromas of forest fruits, aromatic herbs like sage and rosemary, tobacco and leather, along with notes of blood and incense that create a complex and well-defined bouquet.

Making an impression on the palate are its imposing structure, its rich fine tannins, its depth, its intense menthol persistence... A noble and majestic wine which seems to evoke flavours from bygone years.
