The wine

The Guitian Godello, like no other wine, shows us the splendid relationship which the Godello grape, slate soils and altitude can enjoy.

What does this wine taste like?

Intense and complex aromas of stone (peach), white (apple) and citrus (grapefruit) fruits, with vegetal (fennel) and balsamic (bay leaf) hints, together with a delicate and subtle scent of white flowers.

A powerful taste of great length and aromatic persistence, of notable intensity and complexity. It has moderate maturity and alcohol content, and a palate that’s medicinal and fresh. Despite its youthfulness, the wine is harmonious and smooth-textured, balanced and elegant, with a slight bitterness which culminates in a long, dry finish.

Overall, it proves a very flavoursome wine, revealing some almost saline mineral notes. With time in bottle, aromas of greater complexity start evolving, such as kerosene, honey, dried bitter orange peel and dried fruits and nuts.

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker

I tasted the first bottling of the young and unoaked 2021 Guitian Godello, the yellow label bottling that usually comes quite reduced and needs some time in bottle to dissipate the sulfur from the bottling. Underneath, there are notes of apples, bay leaf and balsam. It has moderate ripeness and alcohol (13%) and a medicinal and balsamic palate with a bitter twist in the finish. Give it some time in bottle and it should blossom. 2021 was a small crop, the result of mildew and hail. But the ripeness was good. 80,000 bottles produced.
