The wine

It's just what was needed... a young wine that completes the circle for this modern and innovative winery. Its name refers to the stone posts which were set in the ground to mark boundaries. It's made from the youngest vines but with grafts taken from the most emblematic vines of Bodegas Emilio Moro.

The must macerates for 18 days and ferments in stainless steel with periodic pumping over. On completion, the wine undergoes an ageing of 8 months in French oak barrels which confer extra elegance and complexity.

It appears a lovely Picota cherry colour with violet hues on the rim. A mature and complex nose, dominated by the aromas of black berry fruits, liquorice, violets and fine toasting. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and has well-polished tannins; rounded, pleasant and luscious. Hints from the barrel (vanilla) coat the fruit that's both juicy and fresh, a true reflection of the altitude at which these grapes grow. A long and balanced aftertaste, driven by touches of spicy fruit.

A Ribera for all consumers, and with considerable character.

Bodegas Cepa 21

The Bodegas Cepa 21 winery building, opened in 2007, is located in Castrillo de Duero, on top of a small promontory that offers magnificent views of the vineyards and surrounding countryside. This is where, the brothers José and Javier Moro, the third generation of the Bodegas Emilio Moro, put every effort into extracting the essence of the fruit and making modern wines, aimed at the sort of consumer that's open-minded and well-informed. They have involved several of their...
