The wine

The Izadi Blanco is made from the star grape among Rioja white varieties, the Viura, and and different percentages of Riojan white grapes such as Malvasía, Garnacha Blanca, Maturana, Tempranillo or Torrontés. It ferments in new oak barrels and ages in them for three months in contact with its lees and frequently undergoes battonage.

Have no fear regarding the oak: at Izadi the oak never detracts from the fruit, but bestows complexity on it, and with this white you'll enjoy an extremely fresh wine, with a very clean nose and very elegant unctuosity, a glyceric mouthfeel and considerable freshness. It's an open, refined, most pleasant wine that has a touch of sweetness, no doubt supplied by the Malvasía, truly gastronomic, perfect for rice dishes come summer or autumn!

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker

The white 2021 Selección Blanco was first produced in 1991, and since then, they have used the Viura and Malvasía grapes planted at the beginning of the rows, fermenting them in barrel and have added other varieties since 2016 they. This 2021 is a complex blend of mostly Viura, 11% Garnacha Blanca, 10% Maturana Blanca, 7% Tempranillo Blanco, 3% Torrontés and 3% Malvasía with 13.4% alcohol. It's from a cool vintage that delivered a vibrant wine with great acidity and freshness, serious, clean, with integrated oak and great aging potential. It finishes dry, with a chalky feeling. 48,000 bottles and 100 magnums produced. It was bottled in March 2022.

Bodegas Izadi

Bodegas Izadi

In 1987, Gonzalo Antón, in conjunction with a group of friends and business associates from Vitoria, decided to set up an innovative project in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa. Thus Bodegas Izadi came into being, situated in the triangle formed by the towns of Villabuena, Samaniego and Ábalos, the triangular motif on its labels, and with the clear objective of giving maximum expression to the fruit of that particular location, that natural environment so well-loved (Izadi means...
