The wine

La Croix des Vignes is a fine and delicate red wine which was already sold in the 16th century. This vineyard is located in the historic heart of the Saint-Joseph vineyard, above Mauves and Tournon sur Rhône. The plot, facing south is made up of granite soil degraded to gore.

The wine is adorned with a deep purple color, almost black. Its nose develops peppery aromas with a hint of violet. In the mouth, the notes of peppery spices with a hint of violet bring out the typicality of the Syrah, but with the freshness of St-Joseph.

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker, Jancis Robinson, and Suckling

The red-fruited 2016 Saint Joseph Domaine de la Croix des Vignes features cherry and olive notes. It's rich and velvety across the medium to full-bodied mid-palate, turning crisp and tart on the finish. Drink now through 2030.

— Joe Czerwinski (31/10/2018)Robert Parker Wine Advocate Vintage 2016 - 92 PARKER

Rudimentary black fruit with some violet character and grainy tannic grip. Simple on the palate. Doesn't really go anywhere.

— Richard Hemming (17/10/2017)JancisRobinson.com Vintage 2016 - 15 JANCIS ROBINSON

A wine with plenty of tar and dark-berry character. Asphalt undertones and decadence. Medium to full body, soft tannins and a juicy finish.

A hundred years before the designation of the AOC Hermitage appellation, Antoine Jaboulet began working on the transformation of this quiet area into one of the most prestigious top quality wine regions in the world. Ever since then, Paul Jaboulet Aîné has been a reference winery for northern Rhône wines, and their iconic Hermitage La Chapelle is among the best wines ever produced.   The Frey family, owners of Château La Lagune in...
