The wine
Piedirosso dei Campi Flegrei, also known as "per'è palummo" due to the shape and color of the ripe stalks reminiscent of the legs of the pigeon, is an autochthonous grape variety grown free-footed. It is one of the maximum wine-growing expressions of the territory that has a characteristic bouquet with mineral notes that refer to the volcanic nature of the area.
At sight it has a bright cherry red color, very fresh and fragrant; the nose herbaceous hints accompany the presence of the fruit, never really ripe, always fleshy and crunchy, especially in the morello cherry and plum. On the palate, elegance and freshness are still striking. It goes well with legume soups, broad beans and cicerchie, and tortano with squeaks, with a slightly peppery flavor.
