The wine

Magliocco at its purest, Magno Megonio is undoubtedly one of the born anew symbol-wines of Calabria. And we're not talking about an experiment here. This is the real thing. "A man which time has not the power to damage", Nicodemo Librandi was, and is, the leader of a rebirth that is allowing a whole district to seriously be a player in the Italian wine scene. The wines, which are unbeatable value for money, have had the same extraordinary cleanness and depth about them for sixty years.

Taken from the name of a Roman centurion who lived in Calabria in the 2nd century A.D. and who first left written traces of local viticulture, Magno Megonio comes from some of the best areas of Val di Neto, on predominantly clayey and calcareous soils. By looking at them, they shine in their beautiful, bright and consistent ruby red colour, a prelude to great taste-olfactory sensations.

The aroma is decisive, of striking character, with rich and well distinguishable scents. It starts with dried plum, withered blackberry, dried fig and nutmeg, and then flows on to particularly profound aromas like herbs, undergrowth, vanilla and cocoa. The taste does not disappoint. An elegantly tannic palate, perfectly integrated into an overall soft texture which is extraordinarily easy to drink.
