Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de San Vicente

The wine
The two wines making up the Lindes de Remelluri selection have become reference wines in Rioja Alavesa, and offer the chance to choose between a more mature and accessible red wine, Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de San Vicente, or the more austere, serious and mineral profile of Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de Labastida.
A very expressive and open wine, with plenty of ripe fruit, powerful and elegant. The grapes from San Vicente tend to offer a riper wine with dustier tannins but why should we choose between this Lindes from San Vicente and the one from Labastida? Let's take both and enjoy the amazing diversity of this land!
What does this wine taste like?
The Lindes Viñedos de San Vicente is a more accessible wine, with aromas of ripe red fruits and light mineral undertones. On the palate it is smooth, with balanced mature tannins, and a pleasant finish of medium to long length.

Vineyards
From the 2010 vintage onwards, the vineyards of Lindes de Remelluri have been vinified separately, resulting in two different wines: Viñedos de La Bastida and Viñedos de San Vicente.
Production of Viñedos de San Vicente is carried out using grapes which come from the vines closest to the River Ebro, where the parcels are sandier and there is less minerality conferred. The greater distance from the Sierra de Cantabria mountains also results in different climatic conditions: less rainfall, more dryness and less contrast in temperatures. All this brings about an earlier ripening of the grapes and consequently a higher alcohol level, smoother tannins and less acidity which will also reduce its ageing capacity, when compared with the Lindes de Remelleuri Viñedos de Labastida.

Granja Ntra. Sra de Remelluri
The Granja Nuestra Señora de Remelluri is to be found where once stood the Monastery of Toloño (Labastida), on the old estate that formerly belonged to the monks of St. Jerome who, in the 14th Century, worked the lands growing cereals and vines. There are still traces to be found of their community (a wine press and a cemetery). In 1968 Jaime Rodríguez Salís restored the vineyards and the ancient buildings, converting the monastery into the winery it is today, where the Remelluri...
