The wine
Beaujolais Nouveau enjoys great popularity in France and the festivities surrounding the arrival of this yearly wine, promptly appearing every third Thursday of November, have extended their appeal to wine lovers in many countries. Mommesin is now recognised as the second most famous winery in the production of this wine. It has little in common with other wines: young, made with Gamay grapes and using the carbonic fermentation method (whole berry), leaving out the tannic element generally found in reds, which results in a non-astringent wine, easy to drink and ideal for serving slightly chilled on a festive occasion.

The winery
Mommessin
The second most important winery in the production of Beaujolais Nouveau, Mommessin was founded in 1865 by Jean Marie Mommessin. After several generations, today this family is an indisputable reference as far as Burgundy wines are concerned, covering a number of the sub-appellations (Mâcon, Poully-Fuissé, Moulin à Vent, Beaujolais), and Côtes du Rhône wines. These are smooth, perfumed, rich and colourful wines, traditional blends and exceptional. Great respect for the vineyard...
