The wine
The name Mottura is inextricably linked to Grechetto, it is indeed Sergio's credit for having believed in the potential of this very ancient (believed to date back at least to the Etruscan era) autochthonous grape variety from Orvieto that seemed destined to be abandoned, and to have it given new glory by starting to vinify it in purity.
Poggio della Costa 2009 is a beautiful straw yellow color, full and sparkling. The nose already senses that complexity that we will find on the palate: an intense and captivating nose that unfolds fruity, floral, herbaceous and mineral notes. Fruits with white and yellow flesh, including peach, plum and a pinch of citrus peel; the delicate floral notes of elderberry, hawthorn and acacia are quite distinct. A touch of aromatic herbs, sage and marjoram and brackish notes that are a strong flavor.
On the palate Grechetto amazes above all for its, albeit labile, tannins that gives this product an unusual longevity. Of impeccable taste-olfactory consistency and excellent structure, Poggio della Costa is certainly a wine with character: very tasty, with remarkable flavor and freshness, dynamic, agile as well as fine and balanced.
A red dressed in white, so we could define this wine, which we consequently combine with savory dishes of both meat and fish: cod, grilled red mullet, stewed rabbit or chicken in sauce. Among the first courses we recommend bean, spelled or chickpea soups or a delicious carbonara pasta.

Customer reviews
This must be one of greatest qpr in Italian whitewine
Flat out delicious wine that I'd pair with a aspargus risotto but great on it's own. Apples, herbs, nectarine. Nice minerality as well. Youthfull but balanced and suprisinhly long.
