O. Rivière Rayos Uva

For folks who don't like oak

If you imagine Rioja to be dominated by American oak and usually avoid them, I recommend trying this. Olivier Rivière trained in Bordeaux, but decided to start winemaking in Rioja (instead of his original plan of starting in Fitou, after falling in love with Rioja). Maybe because of this, the profile is very much fruit-forward and reminds me more of a southern Rhone or Langue d'Oc wine. It has surprised many when served blind.

Full bodied & smooth

This is a full bodied wine with a smooth finish. There is a fairly strong berry taste. Quite good value for the price.

GREAT YOUNG AND FRESH RIOJA

I LOVE THIS WINE, LOVELY AND FRESH WITH THE TASTE OF BERRIES COMING THROUGH. IT IS GREAT WITH STEAK AND MEATS.

Le grand classique d’Olivier Rivière. Malgré le prix (bas, par rapport au reste de sa gamme), ce n’est pas un petit vin. C’est un jus plein de vie, avec un vrai goût de revenez-y. Pas le rioja typique, mais c’est ça, justement, qu’on lui demande.

A TENER EN CUENTA

A tener en cuenta, si se busca un vino fresco, ligero, y al mismo tiempo goloso. Lo había probado sin conocerlo de nada, y me había sorprendido. Ahora, que ya lo he vuelto a beber sabiendo de qué tipo de vino se trata, no defrauda.
