The Aglianico del Taburno denomination incorporates thirteen municipalities belonging to the province of Benevento, distributed among the limestone hills of the mountainous massif it takes its name from.
Boasting over a century of antiquity, Ocone is one of the names most closely linked to Benevento's wine-making tradition. The winery, which has been pursuing the precepts of organic wine-growing for some decades now, has always worked according to its own set rules with the aim of offering sincere, high quality wines that are expressive, Mediterranean and not meant to conform to passing trends.
The winery has a wide-ranging catalogue and Ocone Apollo Aglianico, despite the meticulous production methods — fermented in vertical oak tubs, matured in steel tanks for a year, aged in oak barrels for nine months and left to repose in bottle for a further 9 months — belongs to the classic line which includes the firm's most affordable wines.
In the glass it appears a light ruby colour with a garnet rim. On the delicate, light nose, it releases aromas of roses, wild strawberries, pepper, aniseed and cedar wood. On the palate, its smoothness, minerality and freshness make it ideal as an accompaniment to a wide variety of dishes.
