The wine

Orto Vins is one of the most interesting projects set up in the Priorat region in recent times, and Orto is their entry-level wine; a coupage of Cariñena and Garnacha essentially, with some additional input from Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo.

Orto was released onto the market in its first vintage year of 2008, with 18,000 bottles, and is the handiwork of four vinegrowers: Jordi Beltran, Josep M. Beltran, Josep M. Jové and Joan Asens, with the latter known for having previously been in charge of viticulture and vinification at the great Priorat winery owned by Álvaro Palacios.

Orto is a mature wine that brims with youthfulness; on the nose it comes over as being a genuine Montsant, with a perfect freshness, an Atlantic character, and in terms of aromas exuding fresh, floral, fruit juice and pure perfume notes. This same freshness is confirmed on the palate and revealed too are touches of very fine aromatic herbs (thyme, rosemary, basil…). Here is a wine that we can thoroughly recommend as well-priced, enabling you to discover this denomination’s true character.

Beltran, Josep M. Jové and Joan Asens. They have followed in the vine-growing footsteps of their fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers, with a long tradition of working in cooperatives, and in 2008 they decided to start up their own winery and make top quality wines.
