The wine
What does this wine taste like?
Aromas of cassis, earthy notes, wafts of tobacco and toasted bread, and subtle undertones of caramel. Its entry on the palate is sweet and, although it favours decanting, you can tell this is an agreeable wine just by uncorking the bottle; flavoursome, rounded, with well-integrated ageing notes and a slight choclatey bitterness. Warm, glyceric, balsamic, silky and seamless.

Drinking and storing
The quality of this wine is patently obvious and it can be laid down for some 6-7 years. It also comes over as straightforward, direct and, unlike its winery siblings, very accessible right from the start.
Food pairing
Lamb / Barbecues / Rabbit lamb with fine herbs / Oven-cooked meats / Roast beef

The Dominio de Atauta vineyards are located in the most easterly area of the denomination, in the province of Soria, in an incredibly harsh environment that appears almost forgotten and abandoned, yet one that still has much to offer.

Dominio de Atauta
The Dominio de Atauta winery is located in the Atauta valley in the province of Soria in central Spain. They own 21 hectares of vines and supervise another 22, meaning they manage around 600 plots altogether at altitudes of over 1000 metres. The winery's goal is to demonstrate the full potential of their pre-phylloxera Tinto Fino vines with ages ranging between 85 and 150 years old. The Atauta valley has a history of over 500 years of winemaking in extremely severe conditions,...
