The wine

The revolutionary Ana Maria Ribeiro Da Silva, better known as Anita, met Giuseppe Garibaldi in 1839 in Laguna, in southern Brazil, of which she was originally from. And it was love at first sight. Embracing the ideals of what would soon become her husband, she followed him in all his exploits. It is said of her husband that he was a teetotaler but, when he landed in Sicily, he tasted the marsala, he found the sweet variant particularly pleasant, which since then bears his name.

To the heroine of the two worlds, described by Garibaldi as a “proud woman, with big black eyes”, Pellegrino wants to dedicate a Marsala Superiore Ambra dolce 2012, called Anita Garibaldi. Made from grillo, catarratto and inzolia grapes, grown in the vineyards of Marsala and Mazara del Vallo, it has a persistent and intense aroma with notes of quince and pleasant hints of dried fig and vanilla. A marsala that seduces sip after sip, sweet and passionate with its pleasant honeyed notes.
