The wine

A notary from Marsala, Paolo Pellegrino founded in 1880 an agricultural winery destined to become among the largest and best known of Sicily. Custodian of tradition, Pellegrino winery has gradually expanded into all the wine areas of western Sicily. Variety and specialisation distinguish this great family in the land of Greeks and Phoenicians, where respect for history and for the territory goes hand in hand with the conversion of vineyards to organic.

The mineral-rich soils that nourish the Cantine Pellegrino vineyards are the source of the Shiraz grapes vinified as a single variety to obtain the wine of the Tareni line. The rows of vines are located in the countryside of Salemi and Mazara del Vallo, inland from Trapani, at an altitude of around 100 metres, in an area of extreme western Sicily characterised by a typical Mediterranean climate. So there are all the conditions for a concentrated and fragrant Shiraz, which preserves freshness and dynamism thanks to a minimalist refinement of 4 months in steel.

An elegant and harmonious Shiraz of an intense purple colour and with a bouquet of black cherry, pomegranate and wild blackberry. On the palate, the nuances of mulberry and black cherry are balanced by fresh balsamic hints. Ideal with red meat dishes such as roasts, grilled meats and ragù. Also excellent with mature cheeses.
