The wine

Tenuta di Castellaro is one of the youngest wineries on the Aeolian Islands, off the northeast coast of Sicily. In spite of its young age, the winery has become one of the most important thanks to the estate's exceptional soils and very careful management of the vineyards and production process.

The vineyards of Tenuta di Castellaro grow around the winery, which is located in the highest area of the island of Lipari and integrates into the landscape without any impact on the environment. Here, the sun, wind and sea and the exceptional soils of a volcanic nature give rise to wines of the highest quality.

These remarkable lands of volcanic soils give this white not only its name (pomice is the name that the pumice stone is known by in this area), but also minerality with hints of sand and saltpetre, great freshness and refined elegance. The Carricante variety, perfectly adapted to this minerality, blends excellently with the aromatic roundness of the Malvasía, with floral, citrus and almond touches.

The Carricante grapes of Bianco Pomice undergo an ageing of 6 months in barrels and in contact with the lees; as a result of this ageing period, the wine appears a lovely golden colour, having a very genuine personality and surprising longevity. Most definitely a fantastic expression of the Mediterranean character.
