Tomás Postigo 3er Año
2021Spec sheet
The wine
Only the huge amount of knowledge accumulated by Tomás Postigo during his years at Protos and Pago de Carraovejas can explain how a wine with hardly any vintages released (2009 was the first) is capable of already attaining such high levels of quality and of becoming a new reference point in the Ribera del Duero.
What does this wine taste like?
In appearance, the wine is a purplish cherry-red colour with blue glints and of high density. The nose displays aromas of wild black fruits, along with floral, lactic, spicy, balsamic and toffee notes. On the palate, it is complex, flavoursome, warm, powerful and balanced. It exhibits sweet, compact tannins and fruit notes, ending with a lengthy finish.

Drinking and storing
After receiving the bottle, it’s advisable to let it rest for at least 48 hours before consuming the wine. It can be stored in a cool location for 4 to 5 years after its vintage year. We recommend decanting and serving at about 16º C.
Food pairing
Rice dishes and risottos with meat, roasted or casseroled meats, charcuterie, ham and hard cheeses are some of the most usual and successful combinations, although the possibilities with this Tomás Postigo 3r Año are far more numerous. Try it out with a moderately spiced chilli con carne and nachos, or a ratatouille redolent with a little garlic and aromatic herbs.
Meat rice dishes / Oven-cooked meats / Cured cheeses
