The wine

This wine's provenance is the Finca La Navilla estate, lying at an altitude of 844 metres with a favourable south-west orientation. Enjoying a special microclimate, there is a significant contrast between day and night temperatures, which enables fresh and balanced wines to be obtained.

A very intense and deep shade of Picota cherry, the wine appears almost opaque and displays abundant dense tears. Its aromas show great complexity, releasing fruit, spicy and smoky notes, with a fine balance achieved between the fruit and wood. Its toasty nuances and mineral background confer considerable elegance and intensity, and prove the source of its originality. On the palate its excellent structure, meatiness and concentration come through, along with some fine tannins. A top quality wine.

Aged for 20 months in French oak barrels with a further minimum of 12 months in bottle.

There is more noticeable oak in the 2017 Viña Pedrosa La Navilla Reserva, and the palate is quite tannic and a little dried out. It comes from the vines that surround the winery and matured exclusively in French oak barriques for 20 months. 26,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2019.
