The wine
Ever since the Viña Real winery started out in 1920, it has represented the elegant character of Rioja Alavesa and rounded and carefully aged wines. A clear example of this style, Viña Real Crianza is a long and fresh gastronomic wine ideal for all occasions.
What does this wine taste like?
Viña Real Crianza is a subtle and spongy wine packed with the pulp of red grapes. A long ageing process brings out aromas of cocoa, tobacco, liquorice and sweet spices. These subtle tertiary notes highlight its wonderful and lively sensations of red fruit and fragrant blue flowers. Delicate tannins, fine acidity, and a seductive volume caress the cheeks while spices like black pepper and nutmeg gain presence with every sip. A long, lingering and elegant finish.

Drinking and storing
Best served in a Tempranillo wine glass or, failing that, a Pinot Noir glass as it needs a wide bowl and narrow opening for the wine to express itself without losing its aromatic properties. To enjoy the wine fully, the ideal serving temperature is around 16ºC.
Viña Real Crianza has a good potential for laying down for up to 5 or 6 years.
Food pairing
Works fabulously with game dishes cooked with aromatic herbs and spices and a mild red fruit sauce.
Rice with truffles / Game birds / Peppercorn steak

Vineyards
The grapes used to create Viña Real Crianza grow in different soil types in a mixture of vineyards, some owned by the winery and some by other Rioja Alavesa producers who have worked with the Laguardia firm for many years.

Viña Real
The Viña Real brand was created in 1960 by Cvne, the founding winery of the group which also includes Viñedos del Contino. Although the first wines to be released onto the market and made with Viña Real grapes (in the Elciego area and close to the old royal road, the Camino Real, hence the name) date back to 1920. Today, looking to over a 100 years of Cvne experience, the new Viña Real winery offers modern-style wines that are well prepared for a...
