The wine
The two reds of Viña Sastre's traditional range, both its Roble and its Crianza, always set themselves apart from their Ribera del Duero counterparts due to having extra depth and complexity, features which enhance and distinguish them. They are high quality wines, very well executed, powerful and complex, mature, that stand out as a result of their gravitas and elegance. This is a very fine Crianza and an excellent choice at all times.
What does this wine taste like?
Viña Sastre Crianza is characterised by its great freshness and surprises too with the presence of red fruit, when blueberries and black fruit are usually the norm in Ribera del Duero wines. Black and red fruit, ripe but smooth and spirited, flowing on the palate, accompanied by floral notes, black pepper, fine toasty nuances, meaty hints and a notable minerality. Restrained and elegant, a wine that's particularly impressive on the palate, very juicy, with plenty of fruit and wonderful acidity, giving full and leisurely enjoyment.

Vineyards
Its freshness and complexity surely result from the careful selection of grapes and the altitude of the plots where the vineyards lie, namely Las Navas, Caroa, Carrasantamaría, Fuentenarro, Valdelayegua, Cañuelo, Carranaguix and Bercial, all parcels of land located in Roa, in the province of Burgos, at an altitude of 815 metres.

Viña Sastre
Today, Viña Sastre is one of the Ribera del Duero's benchmark wineries, known and appreciated both for the wines of its traditional line (Rosé, Roble and Crianza) and also for the wines belonging to its top-quality range: Pago Santa Cruz, Acos, Regina Vides and the legendary Pesus, of which only 1,800 bottles are made a year. This great little family-run winery started out in the mid-twentieth century when Severiano Sastre planted some vineyards which as time passed would...
