The wine

San Clemente is Zaccagnini’s Reserve Montepulciano, a prestigious wine that boasts the additional description of Terre di Casauria, one of the most prestigious areas for cultivating this vine. San Clemente is a wine that reveals all the best qualities of Montepulciano, persuasive and complete both in youth and over the years.

Maceration takes place in oak vats, and this aspect in itself gives an idea of the decisive and complex character of the final product. Vivid ruby in colour, intense and deep, San Clemente has a fruity but deep aroma, with notes of blackberry, plum jam and cherry in spirit. They are followed by even more complex sensations, toasted, with hints of tobacco and cocoa, and spicy, with flavours of pepper and cinnamon. There is no shortage of memories of liquorice and leather at the end, guaranteeing the evolutionary potential of this bouquet.

The aging in wood continues for at least 9 months, and then San Clemente is stabilised in steel and in bottles for another 20. This wine has potential that easily exceeds the decade, yet it has a tense and dynamic flavour, that the strength balances with masterful harmony. The tannin and freshness blend well until the long final progression, which enhances the enveloping and robust body while never tiring the drinker.

Zaccagnini

One says 3,000,000 bottles and one thinks of the wine industry. Marcello Zaccagnini's is instead eclectic and dynamic, very sensitive to the needs of the market, of course, but deeply rooted in love for the territory like few others. As one of the best represented Italian wineries in the world, Zaccagnini displays a virtuous union between entrepreneurial vision and vineyard and cellar expertise. In the countryside of Casauria, the Zaccagnini's have their roots, and here they...
