Altavins

Altavins is identity, honesty and Mediterranean, it is a small winery that is part of the D.O. Terra Alta, a wine-growing region located in the southwest of Catalonia with a millenary tradition and enormous wine-growing potential. In this area fine wines are produced, distinguished by their body and soul and, at the same time, by the essence of the different varieties, especially those that are indigenous (Garnacha and Carignan).

The company was formed in 2001 and since then it has grown to make a name for itself in the complicated wine market, based on meticulous work and a lot of effort. The main goal has always been to observe the virtues of the grape and enhance them with the minimum intervention, to obtain excellence through wines that show the typicality of this area.

The Terra Alta D.O. has a spectacular landscape, typical of the inland Mediterranean, but also soils of varied textures, with good drainage, rich in calcareous rocks and poor in organic matter. It is a land of vines, between 350 and 550 m above sea level, with a dry Mediterranean climate, low rainfall -between 350 and 450 mm/year-, abundant sunshine and two prevailing winds, the "cierzo", which comes from the interior and the "lebeche" which comes from the sea.

The winemaking vocation in Altavins, respectful of the environment, allows the production of grapes with their own identity; the perfect ripening of the grapes helps to extract the greatest number of aromas and tastes from the different varieties. The D.O. Terra Alta is a privileged area for obtaining a healthy, ripe fruit with character and, at Altavins, they have taken advantage of this to produce a range of wines which, even at the most reasonable prices, are, year after year, among the best in the appellation and in Catalonia as a whole.
