Bodega de Beroz

Mariano Beroz and Adrián Beroz are the father and son team running this family concern in Barbastro, in the Somontano region. There is a tradition of vine-growing that goes back through previous generations, and after considerable hands-on experience locally, setting up this project of their own seemed the most obvious way forward. Parcels were looked for and acquired that would suit the needs of the different varieties chosen: from Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Garnacha, to the lesser known but local Moristel and Parraleta for the reds, complemented by Chardonnay and Gewürtztraminer for the whites. The approach is varied in an attempt to reflect just what Somontano has to offer, an aspect symbolized by the logo which depicts vine roots spreading out under the earth, as if to show the wine's firm and deep origins.

This is a fairly new enterprise which became established in 2006 with their first vinification, using grapes sourced from the oldest and best vineyards to undergo ageing in fine French Alliers and Nevers oak barrels. With some hard graft, by 2010 a complete range was in place so that white and rosé wines could be offered too.
