Bodega Los Bermejos
The Los Bermejos winery is located in the only area of the Geria valley where volcanic soils and dry-stone walls make it possible to grow vines and to achieve the seemingly impossible – to produce wine on Lanzarote. Subtropical temperatures and desert-like rainfall conditions make it extremely difficult for vines to thrive. On top of this, strong Sirocco winds often blow in from the Sahara, bringing with them a haze of sand particles and temperatures reaching 45ºC. Semi-circular dry-stone walls around each plant protect them from the winds while the volcanic soil helps to retain what little humidity there is.
