Bodega Tesalia

The Bodega Tesalia winery is located in the Sierra de Grazalemamountain range in Cádiz, close to Arcos de la Frontera, a historic village dating back to Roman times and coveted for centuries due to its privileged location (its original name, Arx-Arcis, meaning fortress on high ground).

Tesalia is the story of the Goldings — a crazy and romantic English family who fell in love with this Spanish village. Captivated by the beauty of the landscape, they realized they had found the perfect place to make a wine which would hold a piece of this terroir in every drink taken. To develop their ambitious project, they needed to bring together a talented team of winemakers: Ignacio de Miguel (one of the most well-known oenologists in Spain), José Ramón Lissarrague (professor at the Higher Technical School of Agricultural Engineers in Madrid), and Cees Van Casteren, the Dutch Master of Wine.

The winery produces two wines, Tesalia and Tesalia Arx, using grapes from a vineyard which comes under the influence of two seas, the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. The soil of the vineyard is mainly made up of clay over a chalky subsoil. This scarcely fertile ground is ideal for an excellent ripening of the grapes they use: Tintilla de Rota (or Graciano), Petit Verdot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
