Recaredo

Recaredo is and has constantly been synonymous with quality, praised for its fine merits: profound, complex, silky, lively and elegant Cavas, with a lengthy lifetime ahead for the most sublime.

These Cavas are made from grapes originating solely from their own vineyards, grown organically and bio-dynamically (both certified), without the addition of sugar (always Brut Nature) and with very long ageing in bottle (always Gran Reserva), using natural cork and with disgorgement by hand at room temperature without any need to freeze the neck of the bottle. Always vintage Cavas which accurately reflect the character of each harvest and with the date of disgorgement noted on the back label. A list of merits undeniably long and admirable, the real reason for the grandeur and excellence perceived in every glass.

Josep Mata Capellades began to produce Cava in 1924 and founded the winery that still continues to bear the name of his father, Recaredo Mata Figueres. At the present time, the founder's sons, Josep and Antoni Mata Casanovas, direct operations at this winery, a pioneer in the production of totally dry Cava (Brut Nature) with a long period of maturation.

Cava Recaredo cultivates its 46 ha. of vineyards with minimal intervention, always looking for equilibrium in the vine stock and endeavouring to show respect for the environment while obtaining the true expression of each grape harvest; vines are grown without any use of irrigation, without applying herbicides or insecticides, using organic and natural fertilizers, with grape harvests carried out entirely by hand for the always vintage and always Brut Nature Cavas.

The vineyards, situated on the outskirts of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, are located at an altitude of between 180 and 300 m. and spread out over 6 estates: Cal Mota, Can Rossell, Pedra Blanca, Can Romeu, Moliner and Marçaneta, planted with mainly Xarel·lo and Macabeo grape varieties, and to a lesser degree with Parellada and Chardonnay.
