Château d'Issan
Château d'Issan, one of the most emblematic wineries in Margaux, Bordeaux, France, has a rich history dating back to the 12th century, when its wines were already served at royal banquets. This Château is one of the prestigious Grand Crus Classés de 1855, a recognition that certifies its excellence and its prominent position in the region. Located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, its 59 hectares of vineyards benefit from an exceptional terroir, composed of gravel and clay soils that provide optimal drainage and perfect conditions for growing Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the two predominant varieties in its blends.
Château d'Issan's philosophy focuses on combining tradition and modernity. The winemaking processes employ classic techniques together with state-of-the-art technology to ensure wines of the highest quality. The result is deeply structured, elegant and long-lived wines, with notes of ripe black fruits, flowers such as violets and spicy nuances, characteristic of Margaux. These wines are aged in French oak barrels for 16 to 18 months, adding complexity and a refined touch.
In addition to its Grand Vin, Château d'Issan produces a second wine, Blason d'Issan, designed to be accessible at a younger age but without losing the winery's characteristic style. In recent years, the estate has broadened its approach to sustainable practices, adopting environmentally friendly management to preserve the vineyard and ensure its excellence for future generations.
Château d'Issan is not only a benchmark in the world of wine, but also a place steeped in history and beauty. Its majestic château, surrounded by a moat, is a testament to centuries of winemaking tradition, making each bottle a unique experience that encapsulates the essence of Margaux and the heritage of Bordeaux.
