Domaine Trimbach
The origins of Maison Trimbach date back to 1626. Since then, twelve generations of rigorous oenologists with a passion for the wines of Alsace have patiently developed a solid reputation from father to son.
It was in 1898, the year in which Frédéric Emile Trimbach received the highest distinctions at the Brussels International Fair, that the Trimbach name acquired its true international recognition, thanks among other factors to the exclusive ownership of the Clos Sainte Hune, the most precious and prestigious wine-growing jewel of the area.
Today, the family vineyard is managed by Hubert Trimbach, his nephews Pierre and Jean, and his daughter Anne, the eldest of the 13th generation. Pierre has been the winemaker since 1979, Jean and Anne travel the world and Julien, Jean's son, has just joined the estate to apprentice alongside Pierre.
Two iconic turrets overlooking the vineyards, a few metres from the heart of Ribeauvillé, mark the FE Trimbach area. Nestled between vineyards and mountains, the charming town with its rich historical heritage is a mecca of Alsatian viticulture and gastronomy.
Protected from oceanic influences by the Vosges massif and exposed to maximum sunlight, the geological fault of Ribeauvillé also has a rich mosaic of soils, all factors that favour the development of numerous grape varieties and the emergence of pure, elegant and very fresh aromas.
The 50 hectares of the Trimbach estate are spread over more than 50 plots and 9 villages, in particular Bergheim, Ribeauvillé and Hunawihr.
By listening attentively to nature, practising short pruning, thoughtful techniques and treatments for a healthy vineyard and environment, preserving the soil and seeking measured yields, the Trimbach estate strives to produce high-quality wines by practising reasoned viticulture from a rigorous selection of the best and most expressive grapes.
