Dominio del Bendito

Anthony Terryn is the owner, oenologist, vinegrower...quite the "be all and end all" at this small Toro winery where he makes wines with character, wines "with soul" as he likes to call them, wines which convey the personality of their origins.

Since 2004, and now assisted by a small team, Terryn has focused all his efforts on caring for the raw material, Tinta de Toro variety grapevines which grow in small parcels of land on the exceptional Pago de la Jara estate. The majority of the vines (80%) are aged over 45 years old and were planted ungrafted, that is, growing on their own roots; bought from local vinegrowers, Terryn looks upon these little treasures as a precious legacy and cares for them with great attention to detail.

The winery's philosophy is to make wines which allow the land that gives them life to come through, and therefore stainless steel and concrete tanks are used, and barrels are brought into the procedure not for contributing their aromatic qualities, which is a concept keenly avoided, but to enable the wines to mature slowly and gain in complexity. Anthony feels that Toro wines offer an explosion of fruit when they are young, with an intensity and depth of fruit that makes them approachable and able to be enjoyed in their early years, yet these are wines which also age wonderfully well.
